Fish Eat Fish is an arcade survival game where players control a small fish, eat weaker sea creatures, and grow large enough to hunt bigger targets. The game also has a simple story: after a shark attack leaves the reef empty, three fish named Ivi, Neo, and Tod decide to restore their home. Growing larger earns gems that can be spent on plants, inhabitants, and other objects for rebuilding the reef.

Growing Through the Food Chain

At the beginning of a run, many creatures in the water are too large to attack safely. The player must search for smaller fish and eat them to increase size. As the controlled fish grows, creatures that were previously dangerous become possible prey, while even larger predators still need to be avoided. This creates a continuous cycle of hunting, growing, and moving into more dangerous parts of the food chain.

Solo and Local Multiplayer

Fish Eat Fish can be played alone or with two or three players on the same device. Each participant controls a separate fish, so multiplayer adds competition for available prey while everyone tries to become larger. The three playable fish are Ivi, Neo, and Tod, and each player has a separate control scheme.

The basic gameplay includes:

·         eating fish that are smaller than your current size;

·         avoiding larger predators until you have grown enough;

·         collecting gems as the fish becomes bigger;

·         spending gems to restore the damaged reef;

·         avoiding sea mines that cannot be eaten;

·         competing or surviving alongside up to two other players.

Controls and Reef Progress

Player 1 controls Ivi with W, A, S, and D, while Player 2 moves Neo with the Arrow keys. Player 3 controls Tod with U, H, J, and K or can use the mouse. Movement is free around the underwater area, so players need to approach suitable prey while keeping enough distance from larger fish.

There are no traditional numbered levels or a combat campaign with missions. Progress mainly comes from increasing the fish’s size, earning more gems, and gradually purchasing objects that restore the reef after the shark attack. The longer a fish survives and grows, the wider the range of creatures it can consume, but there is always a risk of encountering something larger. The combination of size-based survival and reef restoration gives each run two objectives: stay alive long enough to move higher through the food chain and use the resulting rewards to rebuild the underwater home.
