La Madriguera is a short physics puzzle game built around one simple problem: a character wants a piece of cake but refuses to leave his chair. There is no traditional story campaign, dialogue system, combat, or character progression. The entire game takes place in one compact scene, and the objective is to manipulate the surrounding objects until the cake can finally be brought within reach. The unusual restriction of remaining seated turns an ordinary task into the central puzzle.
Reaching the Cake Without Standing Up
The player interacts with objects from the chair and uses a long fork as the main tool for affecting things that are too far away. Furniture and smaller objects can be pushed, pulled, dragged, rotated, or repositioned. Because the environment uses physics, objects do not always move exactly as expected. A badly placed item can block another object, fall into an inconvenient position, or force the player to change the approach completely.
Physics and Environmental Interaction
There are no numbered levels or separate stages. Instead, the challenge is solving the single room by understanding how its objects can work together. The main gameplay involves:
· moving the fork around the room;
· pushing and pulling nearby objects;
· repositioning furniture;
· using objects to extend the character’s reach;
· experimenting with different physical interactions;
· finding a route that gradually brings the cake closer;
· restarting or changing the approach when an object becomes stuck.
The game gives limited direct instruction, so experimentation is an important part of discovering the solution.
How to Solve the Puzzle
Playing La Madriguera requires observation rather than speed. The player needs to examine which objects can be reached first and consider how moving one of them may provide access to something farther away. The fork can interact with furniture and other parts of the room, allowing the player to gradually influence objects that initially seem impossible to reach. Physics also means that the angle, direction, and timing of a movement can affect the result.
There are no enemies, health bars, upgrades, or time limits driving progression. Success is measured entirely by whether the player manages to obtain the cake without violating the central rule of leaving the chair. Since the whole game is based around a single puzzle, repeated attempts are used to test different ideas and learn how each object reacts. La Madriguera therefore plays as a compact problem-solving experiment where the solution comes from manipulating the environment rather than unlocking abilities or completing a sequence of missions.
